The Job

CNN is looking for an experienced leader to work in partnership with the Managing Editor based in Abu Dhabi supporting the management of this highly successful and ambitious Programming hub and contributing to our Newsgathering efforts across EMEA.

In supporting the day-to-day oversight of the Abu Dhabi bureau, you will be focused on ensuring the Programming, Newsgathering and Sponsored content teams are delivering at the top of their game and ensuring ethics and operating practices are best in class.

Working closely with the Managing Editor and colleagues across CNN International, you will identify specific priorities for the region, ensuring we have balanced TV and digital editorial and programming coverage and maintain CNN relations with government officials, local agencies, and the diplomatic world.

The Daily

• In conjunction with the Programming Leadership team, you will oversee live programming delivered from the Abu Dhabi bureau and have management oversight of the team of broadcast journalists outputting our flagship current affairs program from Abu Dhabi, Connect the World with Becky Anderson
• With a focus on continuous improvement, you will be comfortable reviewing existing operations and identify new ways of working where required and in collaboration with the Managing Editor and Abu Dhabi managers.
• You will liaise with the Programming, Tech Ops and Engineering teams and draw on past experience to help design and launch new-look programming from our new broadcast studios in Abu Dhabi
• Day to day partnership with the Managing Editor will require you to be aware of the current news cycle and have input into helping shape what our focus areas should be across all our platforms.
• You will be instrumental in supporting teams across the Bureau with logistics and all associated technical operations, including supporting Newsgathering teams on deployments as needed in the region and working with the Director of Security on relevant matters.
• You will support the Manging Editor with key stakeholder deliverables for the Abu Dhabi bureau including developing and delivering the annual CNN Academy Abu Dhabi program in conjunction with the CNN Academy team.
• You will support the Managing Editor with stakeholder relations and align with PR to manage the external reputation of the CNN bureau ensuring our high editorial standards are maintained.
