Responsibilities
The Manager, Business Operations & Monetization is vital role in the successful execution of NBC News Digital's growth and initiatives. This individual is responsible for driving fast, comprehensive and effective execution against priorities and investments. He/she has a specific focus on monetization (advertising sales, non-advertising display and other revenue sources). They ensure hand-in-hand collaboration with the NBCU sales team in order to maximize advertising revenue opportunities, whether focused on marketing, execution, planning, etc. They also focus on growing non-advertising revenue (in concert with business development and other teams) and are tasked with identifying, planning and executing against new revenue opportunities.
Additionally, this role functions as key touchpoint on content partnerships, with particular focus on tracking and rigor to ensure continued audience and monetization growth. And as a central player on the Strategy & Operations team and its efforts to ensure the growth and success of the digital business, the Manager contributes to other essential projects, analysis and initiatives, as necessary.

This role works closely with colleagues and units across the digital organization (editorial, product, technology, business development) and the greater org (on-air, sales, distribution, legal etc.) and serves as a vital hub of collaboration and execution generally.

Business Operations:
• Function as owner of key initiatives, from conception/approval to execution and operation.
• Ensure rigorous tracking of progress against goals, targets (quantitative and otherwise) and timelines.
• Align multiple groups and stakeholders in order to maximize success, efficiency and pace of execution.
• Own documentation and reporting on initiatives, progress and results.
• Serve as primary touchpoint for executive management oversight and understanding.
• Work closely with management on strategy/analyses of new and existing initiatives for funding, sun-setting, plan updates, etc.
• Serve as business lead on content partnerships, focused on driving audience and monetization growth rigorous tracking and optimization.

Monetization:
• Drive ad sales revenue growth by ensuring close strategic and operational alignment between ad sales, ad sales marketing, ad operations, editorial, product and other digital stakeholders.
• Oversee development and implementation of standard ad sales plans, templates and frameworks to simplify sales process and approvals, and ensure campaign delivery and client satisfaction.
• Ensure communication and rhythm between key ad sales stakeholders to maximize revenue opportunities; Drive assembly and distribution of documentation of upcoming initiatives, editorial calendars, releases etc.
• Serve as site representative in meetings/discussions on topic of ad sales, representing the priorities and needs of the digital business.
• Own optimization of non-ad sales revenue (e.g. content recommendations and link-outs); Serve as primary point of contact for external partners.
• Monitor reporting and financials for trending; Identify upside and downside risks and relevant action/mitigation plans. Flag major issues for management and finance.
• Explore other revenue opportunities: Evaluate for opportunity and appropriateness, provide recommendation to management, and any subsequent execution steps.

Qualifications/Requirements
• BA (advanced degree a plus)
• 3 + years work experience, preferably in the media

industry.
• Deep understanding of ad sales and digital monetization;

Demonstrated experience driving revenue growth
• Substantial work experience (3+ years) at a digital

publisher
• Strong understanding and functional ability in

financial/quantitative modelling/analysis.
• Previous role in an ad sales organization
• Experience with external partner management (content

distribution partners preferred)
