Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for leading a variety of accounting activities. This position is required to meet deadlines, be flexible to do other tasks when needed and can work without direct supervision.

LOCATION: Nashville, TN office. BMI has transitioned back to working in the office on a regular hybrid schedule. At present, most team members are expected in the office two (2) days a week, with the anticipation that days in the office will increase. Decisions regarding future transitions will take place in phases as BMI continues to closely monitor COVID-19 as employee safety is our priority

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Essential Functions: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
• Demonstrate subject matter expertise for the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
• Prepare/review journal entries for month-end close and provide reporting to internal stakeholders.
• Prepare/review monthly account reconciliations, meeting established deadlines, and reconciling items in a timely manner.
• Assist with departmental and expense variance analysis.
• Process fixed assets which include mass additions, asset classifications, depreciation, prepare various schedules and participate in capitalization and impairment reviews.
• Assist with IT reporting, budgeting and forecasting as needed.
• Develop and document accounting policies and procedures.
• Prepare reports and memorandums using critical thinking skills.
• Assist with year-end audit.
• Participate in system testing as needed.
• Work with Financial Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Procurement, HR, FP&A, Royalty Accounting and other departments on accounting-related matters as necessary.
• Participate in special projects as needed.
• Adhere to internal controls and accounting policies.
• Continually update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
• Maintain high standards through use of ''best practices''.
• Exhibit competent communication skills in meetings with other staff and Executives, such as the Balance Sheet Review meeting.
• Cross-train with other team members on processes to improve bench strength.
• Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No direct supervisory responsibilities.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required. Masters and/or CPA preferred.

Experience: Minimum four (4) years accounting experience.

Skills and Abilities: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Access).
• Experience with Oracle Financials modules preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to details.
• Capable of handling multiple tasks while meeting the established deadlines.
• Ability to understand related accounting policies and procedures
• Strong listening skills and the ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbally, in a professional manner.
• Self-motivated with the ability to adapt to changes and quickly learn new processes.
• Must be a team player, flexible, open to challenges, and have the ability to interact with all levels of company personnel.

License(s)/Certifications Required: CPA preferred.
