Job Description
BioWare creates games focused on rich stories, unforgettable characters and vast worlds. It operates primarily out of Edmonton (Alberta, CAN) and Austin (Texas, USA) creating some of the world's most critically acclaimed titles since 1995. The studio is working on future game experiences for the Mass Effect™ franchise, one of the highest rated video game series of all time, and the Dragon Age™ franchise, whose latest entry was the 2014 Game of the Year. We are also working on announced projects Star Wars™ The Old Republic™, a story-driven massively multiplayer online game, and Anthem™, a co-operative Action-RPG set in a new and mysterious world.

As a Development Director, you will run execution on a development team with multiple external partners to build updates for an ongoing live service. This is a leadership role that involves daily interaction with team members, centralized EA departments, the project licensor, external development partners, and project leadership. Reporting to the Senior Development Director, you will guide the team to meet milestones and quality targets through all phases of development.

Responsibilities:
• Develop project schedules for an area of the game that maximize feature quality and scope within resource, financial, and licensor constraints.
• Support teams in meeting their sprint goals and ensures that tasks are tracked, tagged, and estimated.
• Partner with project leadership, balance trade-offs between scope, resources, and time to mitigate project risk and deliver updates that meet the quality expectations of a BioWare game.
• Promote relationships with partners (e.g. licensor, certain EA centralized groups) and guide the work required from them to publish each update.
• Keep the development team and external partners informed of project goals, schedule, and deliverables.
• Document project processes and Identify opportunities for improvement, find creative solutions based on current standards in project management and the industry, and implement solutions with the team.
• Form close working relationships with discipline leads, individual contributors, and project and studio leadership.

Qualifications:
• 5-7+ years of software project management experience, with 2+ years in a leadership role.
• Foundation in project management methodologies and process frameworks (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, Scrum).
• Experience with industry project management tools (e.g. Hansoft, Jira, Confluence).
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience

Nice to have:
• Full-cycle game development experience, especially on a live service title.
• Experience working with story-focused teams like Writing, Cinematics, and Level/Narrative Design
• Experience using game engine tools and version control software.
• Experience using a scripting language to speed up or automate tasks.
• Experience managing the budget for a large project
