ABOUT THIS ROLE
Based in Tokyo, Audible Japan seeks a customer-focused and experienced Manager, Content Lifecyle JP (m/f/x) to join our highly skilled team. In this position, you will lead the local Japan Content Lifecycle team, owning all aspects of JP catalog operations. You will be part of a global partnership of senior leaders within Audible's Content Planning & Operations area that reports in to the Head of Content Lifecycle based in Newark, NJ USA. This global partnership driven by close daily collaboration to lead, manage, grow/improve and represent from a global perspective. The role specifically owns JP's digital asset management and ingestion throughput to support timely, accurate and compelling offers to customers. The role also owns enrichment from discovery and navigation assets derived from JP-origin catalog to power downstream search/browse services, SEO, and affiliations (Title Authority, Series Authority, Contributor Authority). R&D and improvements work specific to digital assets such as audio, image, and other new as-set types also part of the role's purview. The role requires broad SME-level awareness combined with highly actionable daily collaboration and leadership across many non-catalog areas of Audible's business such as global Deal and Production OPS, Publisher Partnerships, International Content OPS and Localization, Audible Studios, Merchandising, Editorial and Tech/Dev teams.

ABOUT YOU
You have the ability to adapt to our business, communicate effectively within team and towards stakeholders and are a strong contributor to the local and global content operations team efforts to deliver the best possible localized listener experience. We are looking for the right combination of Operations judgment, high Emo-tional Intelligence, excellent organizational and time management skills, and experience in the area. You will work from proven data-driven best practices, want to push boundaries and optimize throughput with low defects, and lead from deep understanding of constant change to sustain a highly impactful constant improvement environment.

As a Manager, Content Lifecycle, you will:
• Lead and manage all JP Content Lifecycle focus and output supported and validated by measurable and audita-ble outcomes.
• Lead and manage all JP Content Lifecycle staff resource planning, development including hiring, goal setting and performance management, coaching, and promotion.
• Align, coordinate and drive catalog-related initiatives, projects, escalations and day-to-day operations while advocating for internal/external JP customers, in close daily collaboration with international senior co-leaders in Content Lifecycle.
• Support JP catalog-related Contracts and Royalties improvements and development.
• Lead and manage all JP-origin third party offerings (e.g. distribution of Audible content to iTunes).
• Work up to half of the time in this role on daily capacity support for BAU work related to coordination with providers, editorial (writing/copy editing), assets (metadata, image and audi) QA and maintenance, discovery, navigation and localization enrichment.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 5+ years professional experience in web-based publishing environment, either as an IC or as manager.
• BA/BS or equivalent degree, preferably in Humanities (e.g. Literature, Romance philology), Library Science, Audio Engineering or similar/related subject.
• Extensive professional experience as a people manager, team lead or supervisor accompanied by demonstrated grace under pressure, across multiple operational areas at the same time.
• Experience with proven success in defining, planning and driving complex, international, large-scale, time-critical cross-functional projects.
• Business fluency in English, both written and spoken.
• Business fluency in Japanese, both written and spoken.

• Ability to deal well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs and delivering measurable results in a fast-moving, high-energy, entrepreneurial environment.
• Flexibility, practical and strong problem-solving skills.
• Passion for operational excellence and standardization.
• Strong interpersonal skills combined with the ability to effectively manage catalog-related projects and relation-ships with stakeholders across various (global) departments.
• A confident and upbeat communicator via written and verbal business communication skills.
• An avid consumer of online media, including books (audio and print), blogs, podcasts, and other digital content.
• Experience with Content Risk Management.
• Experience with Audible or Amazon.
