We build systems that will be distributed around the world, spanning mobile apps and voice-forward experiences on Amazon Echo devices, powered by Alexa. The Amp team is looking for team members across a variety of functions, including software engineering/development, product, marketing, design, and more. Come make history, as we expand and launch Amp for millions of listeners.
The Principal, Music Growth will be responsible for developing and executing the music strategy of Amp. They will work in partnership with cross-functional colleagues on the Amazon Music licensing team and develop and negotiate rights and resulting strategies for Amp in live audio. They will be expected to develop, and maintain relationships with key stakeholder partners within the music rightsholder community and build growth opportunities that deliver results for both Amp and its partners. They will also be expected to identify and report on the success of their initiatives leveraging internal and external data sources and native KPIs.
This role can also be based in New York, Los Angeles, or Atlanta.
Key job responsibilities
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key rightsholder partners at decision-making level
• Evaluating potential license agreements to secure content from content partners, in partnership with licensing teams
• Monitoring the competitive landscape to help develop growth opportunities
• Performing content strategy analysis to ensure our customers have the broadest selection of content available, regardless of territory
• Developing internal and external partnerships to expand scope and scale of music content within New Projects team
About the team
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 8+ years of relevant experience in account management, business development, content licensing, or finance
• 8+ years of experience negotiating license and/or business development agreements
• Bachelor's Degree
• 10+ years of relevant experience in business development, music licensing, entrepreneurship, and/or consulting
• 10+ years of experience working in media and technology
• Experience in working with cross-functional teams and complex partnerships
• Track record of managing a large number of account relationships and deals simultaneously, ideally related to media/entertainment
• Excellent written/verbal communication and analytical skills
• BA/BS Required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 4+ years of experience in roles directly related to music licensing with label and publisher counterparties
• Understanding of various licensing structures and associated fees
• Expert-level fluency in current trends, players, and opportunities in music and audio.
• Global contact base with music management companies, labels and publishers
• Demonstrated experience with ambiguity, using sound business judgement and data to drive strategy, business action, and results.
• MBA or Juris Doctorate
