If you're passionate about working with some of the biggest AAA studios, crafting large-scale systems and online multiplayer technology in a collaborative environment then we'd love to hear from you!

About This Role

We have an opening in our Vancouver office (or remote in the west coast time zone) for a highly qualified Software Engineer with comprehensive distributed systems and Data Centre operations experience.

The responsibilities of this role include:
• Writing highly available software that considers the challenges of large-scale distributed systems.
• Developing, evolving, scaling, productizing and supporting DC inventory, and automated operations supervising tooling.
• Building and maintaining services in Kubernetes and Docker.
• Understanding the purpose and impact of Demonware's diverse array of interconnected services at a high level. Over time, you will be required to reason about the entire Demonware ecosystem in order to propose meaningful improvements.
• Leading and/or actively participating in key infrastructure integration projects involving multiple teams.
• Load testing, fixing and debugging, often in collaboration with various internal teams.
• Performing root cause analysis and proposing and/or implementing appropriate engineering solutions to prevent or mitigate recurring incidents.
• Active participation in design and code reviews.
• Participation in a tier-1 on-call support rotation.

These are some of the qualities we look for in an ideal candidate:
• Excellent collaboration skills, with a strong emphasis on Diversity and Inclusion principles.
• Excellent Python skills.
• Experience developing and deploying applications in Kubernetes.
• Ansible, Terraform, Puppet or Salt experience. (We use Puppet and Ansible.)
• Experience using self-serve fully automated deployments using Helm, and Jenkins or other CI/CD tools.
• Application design and prototyping experience.
• Hybrid environment experience - we work with a combination of VM workloads deployed via puppet, and Kubernetes workloads deployed with CI/CD tooling.

If you enjoy working on hard problems, building upon industry-leading technology, Demonware is the place for you. We are a team of especially hard-working people that, despite its small size, is able to accomplish a lot. We do this by making sure every individual plays a major role at Demonware. We look forward to hearing from you.
