Managing Editor - Race & Culture (ABC News)

ABC News is hiring a Managing Editor to execute productions across all shows and platforms. This role calls for someone who has a passion for storytelling, drive to produce creative content and a desire to be at the forefront of inclusive content and audience development.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 8 years' experience in cross-platform journalism with a track record developing enterprise and long-form story-telling. The candidate needs to have a deep understanding of news and be able to pivot to breaking news specials when required, in collaboration with the Race & Culture reporting teams.

The candidate must innovate visually and narratively in a multi-platform ecosystem with an eye toward finding a story palette that will appeal to a broad-based, multi-cultural viewership and deliver satisfying journalism that continues to surprise, inform and inspire. Additionally, the Managing Editor must be committed to building and supporting a diverse staff that can deliver high-impact programming to a broad-based audience.

Strong collaboration and leadership skills are required. The Managing Editor must seamlessly integrate to guide the efforts of the Race & Culture unit and interface with show and platform leadership across the news division. In addition, the Managing Editor will have to think creatively to find new craft pitches for special reporting/programming for linear, digital and streaming platforms.

Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of 8 years' experience
• Strong editorial judgment
• Communication skills (written and verbal) – ability to effectively communicate and interact with people at various levels and in various disciplines of business and production
• Exceptional presentation and communication skills
• A team-first working style, with a focus on results

Required Education
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will work a portion of their time on-site from a Company designated location and the remainder of their time remotely.
