Broadcast Programming Research: The NBC Broadcast Research and Digital Analytics internship is perfect for dependable, enthusiastic, and motivated students with career interests in the television industry and a desire to learn linear and digital ratings methodologies. The intern will have the opportunity to generate and distribute reports and analyze viewership across age, gender, and countless other demographics, using both television ratings and digital data. This position will also work closely with researchers in both the linear and digital worlds and will have a unique perspective as to how much the television landscape has changed and how quickly that change continues.

Consumer Insights: The department is responsible for qualitative, primary research and audience insights for the Entertainment Networks of NBC, USA, Bravo, E!, Oxygen, SyFy & Universal Kids. Interns will work directly with our analysts on analyzing social media commentary using social listening tools to gauge audience feedback on TV programs. They will contribute to a weekly Trends report compiling the latest social & digital trends. There will be an opportunity to learn about different surveys, questionnaires, and research methodologies and their application to the business objectives of this company. The Content & Consumer Insights department works together with a variety of departments (including: Development, Scripted series, Alternative, Lifestyle Docu-series, Marketing, and Scheduling). This is a fantastic opportunity for someone interested in learning about the television entertainment industry and the field of primary research and consumer insights.

Business Insights & Strategy: Situated at the cross-section of two groups – Content Distribution and Corporate Research – the intern will have a front seat view of NBCU's partnerships with major media companies, while contributing to research initiatives that span across the company. The intern will focus on marketing research projects related to traditional broadcast and Pay TV, as well as SVOD and AVOD streaming services. Joining a team of quantitative and qualitative researchers, they will explore and leverage a wide variety of datasets.

Data & Measurement: The team is part of shaping the future of television by helping to better understand today's complex viewing behaviors through innovative measurement and data techniques. This position will be responsible for analyzing viewership of NBCU and competitive networks and platforms across all screens and will support internal digital and cross platform reporting tools. The ideal candidate will have a passion for data, exposure to working with audience measurement tools and large data sets, Tableau/SQL proficiency, and the curiosity to explore and evaluate new measurement tools across linear and digital.

Research Operations: This team is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of ratings that power billions in business across NBCU networks by managing programs, program details, schedules, and affiliate lineups that are utilized in the creation of Nielsen ratings. The intern will be to assist our team with submitting schedule information for NBC broadcast and six of the cable networks to Nielsen to ensure programming is reported accurately. The intern would also be involved with helping to link and release VOD assets for NBC Broadcast and Peacock to Nielsen, as well as assisting with ad hoc assignments that may come up.

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
• In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress.
• Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by NBCUniversal.

Additional Job Requirements

Must submit an attestation disclosing your COVID-19 vaccination status and, if partially or fully vaccinated, submitting your vaccination record no later than 7 days following commencement of employment.

Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the commencement of employment or must undergo regular COVID-19 testing if Company determines your job position requires accessing an NBCUniversal worksite.

Desired Characteristics
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
• Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
• Passion for media and entertainment as well as television programming
• Prior exposure to Nielsen systems, Comscore, and/or traditional and digital measurement tools
• Knowledge of and experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, SQL, and/or PowerBI
• An affinity for numbers, data, and analysis
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel (including vlookups and pivot tables, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong comfort level working with numbers and data with an ability to identify and analyze patterns and anomilies
• Attention to detail and strong problem solving skills are a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Previous internship experience and on-campus involvement
