Job Description
Responsibilities
NBC Bay Area's Community Engagement Internship provides students with real world experience and exposure to working in a top ten television market's high-energy Community Engagement team. We are looking for students who are highly motivated and who can function as a team member or independently in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule requirements: Minimum two days per week, with some weekends based on department needs.

During their internship, interns will:
• Assist in online research of local community events and keep a beat on what's happening in Bay Area.
• Have an in-depth understanding of the SF Bay Area non-profit, cultural and media landscapes.
• Propose new community events to support company priorities and goals.
• Assist in researching potential guest for community affairs program.
• Compile the stations FCC public file including development of quarterly and annual reports.
• Update and maintain the nbcbayarea.com online community calendar
• Assist with planning, and participate in, special station events and projects including weekend events.
• Assist in developing and curating engaging community content for social media platforms.

Internships at NBCUniversal are paid and do not require course credit.

Qualifications/Requirements
Qualifications/Requirements :
NBCUniversal interns must meet the following criteria:
• In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress. We will consider recent graduates one semester beyond degree.
• Current class standing of Junior or above
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the US without a Visa or sponsorship
• The ability to work at the station, located at 2450 N. First Street, San Jose, CA
• Must be able to provide their own transportation to and from community event activations throughout the Bay Area.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 30-lbs unassisted
• Utilize Word, Excel, and other programs in execution of assignments.

Desired Characteristics
• Spanish language proficiency a plus
• Graphic design and photoshop skills are a plus.
