Baseball Operations Intern

Department: Baseball Operations

Classification: Part-Time/Non-Exempt

Summary/Objective:

The Houston Astros Baseball Operations Internship will be an educational opportunity for some talented early career professionals striving for a role in Baseball. Interns will support all areas of the Baseball Operations Department, but will likely focus on one or two areas (Amateur/International Scouting, Advance Scouting, Baseball Economics, Research & Development) with day-to-day administrative and office management duties depending on the needs of the department.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Learn how a Baseball Ops department functions and the duties of your assigned group(s)
• Assist with daily administrative tasks for your department
• Creatively pursue ways to improve & refine existing processes
• Manage video database including tagging & editing
• Prepare information and presentations for meetings
• Assist with various research projects
• Operate various technology during home games
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education and/or Experience & Skills:
• Strong administrative skills
• Intellectually curious and willing to ask questions
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Interest in developing programming skills in programs like R/Python & SQL
• Ability to communicate in Spanish a plus
• Passionate about baseball
• Willing to relocate to Houston, TX
• Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• Possess a valid Driver’s License

Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
