Job Description:

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc., ("MGM") is looking for a Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to join the Corporate Finance group and act as the primary finance lead for MGM's Ancillary Global Consumer Products & Licensing Group. The Director will be responsible for accumulating the Ancillary Group's actual results from Accounting to report to the Ancillary division, overseeing the Ancillary budgeting, planning and forecasting process, establishing new processes and guidelines for consistent and accurate forecasting and budgeting, modeling various licensing deal structures, and providing reporting / information to senior executives to support decision making. This role will report into the SVP of Corporate Planning and will have a dotted reporting line to the Head of Global Consumer Products & Experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and managing the annual budget and long-term plan process, and quarterly reforecasts for all ancillary licensing lines of business, including global consumer products, interactive & gaming, location based entertainment, music and film clips
  • Reporting and providing detailed analyses for the Global Consumer Products & Licensing group, including monthly dashboards and analytics by property / region / market / line of business and category
  • Creating key revenue tracking reports
  • Conducting or leading licensee or agent audits, as necessary
  • Preparing reports / PowerPoint presentations for Senior Management
  • Collaborating with Corporate Accounting and Global Consumer Products and Licensing group during quarterly and year-end close processes to reconcile financial results and identify key drivers of variances in the forecast
  • Liaising with Head of Global Consumer Products and corporate accounting to obtain and review information used in overall corporate plan, ensuring that forecasts reflect accurate historical data and/or forecast assumptions, built in accordance with proper revenue recognition principles
  • Partnering with the business to deliver valuable insights and sound financial decision support
  • Assisting with business planning and deal management: provide analyses and develop recommendations for contract terms, royalty rates, guarantees, and marketing commitments; conduct industry research and ROI analyses
  • Develop fact-based recommendations to help senior leadership make informed business decisions, including identifying/exploring new business opportunities and constructing corresponding financial models to analyze viability
  • Championing best-practices and assessing process improvement opportunities to further improve reporting and grow the business

 

Job Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, with an MBA or CPA a plus
  • Minimum 5 - 7 years of financial planning / accounting experience
  • Prior experience in licensing, Retail or Consumer Products organization strongly desired; entertainment industry experience preferable
  • Aptitude for being precise and detail-oriented
  • Experience and desire to formulate and establish new processes to maximize business / accounting / forecasting effectiveness
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of company personnel
  • Desire and proven track record working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well as a team member and deliver accurate information in a timely manner
  • Knowledge of SAP and PPT and strong proficiency in Excel is required; knowledge of Essbase a plus
